About Wind & Fog
Wind & Fog designs and builds California native landscapes that feel natural, durable, and deeply connected to place.
We work with the realities of each site — sun, soil, slope, wind, and water — to create outdoor spaces that support local ecology while remaining beautiful and livable for people.
Our Approach
Every project begins by slowing down and paying attention.
We look at how water moves through a property, where shade settles throughout the day, how plants want to grow over time, and how people move through the space. From there, we design landscapes that feel cohesive rather than imposed — gardens that make sense for where they are.
Our work favors native plant communities, simple materials, and thoughtful construction over quick fixes or decorative trends.
Why Native Landscapes
California native plants evolved for this climate. They require less water once established, support pollinators and wildlife, and age gracefully with minimal intervention.
But beyond their ecological value, native landscapes offer something quieter: a sense of belonging. When a garden reflects its region, it feels settled — like it’s always been there.
Design & Craft
Wind & Fog is a design-build practice, meaning we carry projects from concept through installation.
This allows us to stay closely involved at every stage — refining details in the field, responding to site conditions as they arise, and building with intention. Our installations often include grading, drainage, decomposed granite paths, dry creek beds, wood structures, and carefully curated native plant palettes.
We believe good landscapes come from collaboration between design, craft, and time.
